Competent Crew Course
This comprehensive course is designed for beginners who wish to obtain a more advanced ticket when sufficient mileage and experience have been logged. Many of our student having completed this course and the STCW 95 course are now sailing overseas or crewing on Luxury yachts. Duration 5 Sundays or 4 weekdays from 10h00 17h30.
Day Skipper Course
A SAS Day skipper is qualified to skipper a sail boat in Inland Waters day & night and at sea from sunrise to sunset in his local waters. An SAS Skipper is also qualified to skipper a power boat under 100 tons in inland waters by day or night and at sea from sunrise to sunset. This course gives a sound grounding in Coastal Navigation and Yacht Management. It is designed for students who are competent to crew on a yacht. It can be done over 5 full Saturdays and five Tuesday evenings or as an 8 weekdays course from 10h00 to 17h30.
Day Skipper Theory Course
This course is aimed at yachtsmen who are completely in control of their yacht at sea but need to know a lot more about Navigation, Colregs and GPS. Duration 4 weekdays from 10h00 to 17h00
SAS Local Water Skippers Course
This long awaited and essential course is bridging the gap between Day- and Coastal Skipper. On completion the skipper is allowed to sail at night from his home port and obtain the necessary miles and experience for the Coastal Skipper’s Ticket. Requirements: A SAS or Casa Day skipper Certificate and at least having sailed 400 miles as a skipper. Duration 4 weekday evenings from 18h30 to 21h30.
SAS Coastal Course
This course is designed to prepare you fully for the SA Sailing (SAS) Coastal Skipper Exam - both the practical and theoretical aspects including GPS, Radar and AIS. It is an advanced course in sailing and navigation. We expect the student to fully understand the basic terminology and be a competent sailor. It can be done over 5 full Saturdays and five Monday evenings or as an 10 weekdays course from 10h00 to 17h30.
SAS Coastal Theory Course
Some people may wish to do just the navigation theory. This can be accommodated by attending just the Monday evening lectures on the weekend course and will prepare you to write the SAS theory paper which covers navigation.
SAS Yacht Master Offshore Course
This course is a theory course, there is no practical examination. It is designed for students having completed the SAS Coastal Course, and is the last course needed to "Sail the World" It entitles the holder to be in command of a yacht anywhere on the globe.
Celestial Navigation
Find your way across the ocean, plotting your course by celestial navigation of the Sun, Moon and Stars using your sextant. Experience the pride and joy seeing the coast line exactly as you where you plotted it.
