SA Sailing Day Skipper Course
We teach the SA Sailing Syllabus, which is internationally accepted. These are the only sailing qualifications recognised by the South African Port Authorities. SA Sailing is directly responsible to SAMSA which is a statutory body.
The tickets issued are based on the International Merchant Shipping Act (National Small Vessel Safety) Regulations 2007.
An SA Sailing ticket also entitles the holder to an ICC Certificate (International Certificate of Competence)
A SAS Day Skipper is qualified to skipper a sail boat in inland waters day and night and at sea from sunrise to sunset in his local waters. A SAS Skipper is also qualified to skipper a power boat under 100 tons in inland waters by day or night and at sea from sunrise to sunset. This course gives a sound grounding in Coastal Navigation and Yacht Management. It is designed for students who are competent to crew on a yacht. It can be done over 5 full Saturdays and 5 Tuesday evenings, or as an 8 weekdays course from 10h00 to 17h30.
The success of the course is indicated by the number of our students who now own and skipper their own yachts overseas or in South Africa.
