The new Short Range Certificate course (SRC) for operating a VHF radio has now replaced the old Restricted Radiotelephone Operator’s Certificate. Good Hope Sailing Academy has been accredited by SAMSA and is now able to offer the new radio course to our students, as this is a requirement for obtaining your Day Skipper’s licence from SA Sailing. The course covers radio procedures as prescribed by GMDSS including Digital Selective Calling techniques, using actual radio sets. The course runs over three evenings with a practical and written test on the last evening. This will prepare you to write SAMSA’s exam to obtain your SRC certificate. A comprehensive manual is included. SAMSA registration and exams fees are excluded. Part-time: Duration: 3 weekday evenings starting at 18.30 to 21.30. Full-time: An alternative to the above three evenings, is a full day teaching with the examination on another day. This alternative can be arranged at a mutually convenient time.
